Our Story
The sadness of Niall’s passing inspired and prompted a reaction from all who loved him, and this began with the #NS10 movement.
His family, coaches, teammates and friends channelled their emotions and love for Niall into wanting to make sure they could help others in a positive way with the clear goal to promote greater mental health awareness and wellbeing in sports club and young people across the UK.
The rugby family around Niall and the wider community came together for the #NS10 Memorial Day.
The Memorial Day in 2022 include the first edition of the Niall Stringer Memorial Cup, a match which was refereed by international referee Christophe Ridley, who became a Patron of the Foundation and came with messages of support from rugby greats such as Will Greenwood, Michael Lynagh, Jason Robinson, Jackson Wray & Johnny Wilkinson.

The day raised more than £30,000 and inspired by the passion of everyone involved, we wanted to see through creating a lasting legacy for Niall. After plenty of work by a huge number of people in April 2023 The Niall Stringer Foundation was officially registered at the Charities Commissions with the goal…
For the public benefit, to promote and protect the physical and mental health of young people engaged in sports clubs and sporting environments at all levels, with a focus on club rugby through making grants to support mental health work, related issues and initiatives and working with other organisations and partners to raise awareness of mental health, provide insight and support improvement.
Over two years on from the tragedy of Niall’s sad passing we are making the positive steps to promote good mental health and to help in the prevention of suicide by using the power of sport to raise awareness around mental health and wellbeing.
